Learn about the Extra Help financial assistance program

Medicare beneficiaries who have limited resources and income may be able to get Extra Help, a government financial assistance program that helps pay for Medicare Part D costs. If you qualify for Extra Help, you will receive either a full or partial subsidy, depending on your income and assets. Many beneficiaries qualify for some level of Extra Help, even if they exceed income limits.

The Extra Help program can help you pay for:

  • Your monthly Medicare Part D plan premium
  • Copays
  • Coinsurance amounts

The Social Security Administration has an online application you can complete to find out if you qualify for the Extra Help program. You can also call the Social Security Administration or Medicare to find out if you qualify.
