MedicareBlue PPO
Information for Groups
This page applies to you if you purchased your MedicareBlue PPO plan on your own. If you receive your plan through your employer group or union, or you are a group administrator looking for the best coverage for your group members, refer to Group Plans.
MedicareBlue PPO offers an open network of doctors, specialists, and hospitals you can visit, both in- and out-of-network. This gives you the flexibility to see the doctors you want to see (though you may pay more for seeing doctors out-of-network). With a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO), you have a lower-cost option that provides comprehensive medical and drug coverage. View the Benefits at a Glance (PDF) plan comparison to see which option is best for you.
MedicareBlue PPO is a regional Medicare Advantage plan with a Medicare contract. MedicareBlue PPO coverage is provided by only one of the following plans, depending on the state in which the policy is issued: Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Iowa,* Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota,* Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana,* Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska,* Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota,* Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield of South Dakota,* and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming.* Enrollment in MedicareBlue PPO is available only to residents in the service area served by these Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans.
You are eligible to enroll in MedicareBlue PPO if you are entitled to Medicare Part A and enrolled in Medicare Part B. You must continue to pay your Medicare Part B premiums (and Part A, if applicable) if not otherwise paid for by Medicaid or another third-party.
